Cracking Down on Immigration.

In an editorial in the New York time web site titled “Broken in U.S.A”, and can be found at the link, (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/01/opinion/01thu2.html?ref=opinion) talks about immigration crackdown by the Obama administration. The editorial states that the Obama administration is questioning the warehouse of a very popular clothing line by the name of American Apparel. He conflict is that President Obama want to fire approximately 1,800 workers that are currently employed at the warehouse. As the editorial goes on to say this is not the first time that American Apparel had been in this predicament, the company faced similar conflict with former President Bush’s administration. But this time the feds came with payroll audits rather than guns and dogs. “Now all manner of companies face the very real possibility that the government, using our basic civil powers, is going to come knocking on the door”, comment made by the director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, John Morton as he calls it a fight against immigration. With this said you have to ponder on the question who benefits from this “fight against immigration” as we all know immigrants cannot participate in legalization, as that would be raising the unemployment rate even more, but most of all what is going to be accomplish from this, most immigrant have been work here and doing many of the jobs that most American’s wouldn’t partake in. Also the editorial states that American Apparel isn’t like most company searching for the illegal immigrant, they have a system in place for weeding out the real from the fake. At the end of it all I fell like this is going to be the act of a dog chasing its tail this “fight” will go on for quite some time.
