What is real help?

Food, this is something that we all need to have to live. In the world that we live in today you have to work for what you want, but with the economy bent so out of shape and job very scares how do you eat without any money? Food stamps might run across your mind, and yes the food stamp system was put into place so that the families with little or none could have accesses to food. As I read the blog on food stamps on my classmate’s page, U.S. Government, it was a shock to me to know that the greatest country in the world is not all that great. My classmate talked about the miss use of the system, explaining how many that qualifies for food stamps aren’t receiving the helping hand as they should. My eyes were also opened when my class mate talked about the number of states that are not using the system correctly and the percentages of those that are receiving aid. After reading this article and taking a good look at the state of our nation’s economy I totally agree with everything stated in this article. I do believe that everyone that is in need of government assistance show have no trouble getting the help that they need, I know that Texas was one of the many states that were machined in the list of states no using the food stamp system. I feel that everyone at this point in our economy should have accesses to all aid, not only will this help out families that are having hard times right but it would also give those that need just a little help a chance to get back on their feet, and once that happens I think that the American people will see some king of hope in our nation and things should turn out for the better.

Depression Number Two?

Depression, the word alone can make you feel depressed. As we all know the economy is in a very low state right now. Newspaper articles are saying that the economy is at the lowest state that it has ever been in. Not only is America in bad shape, many Americans feel that we are in bad shape and don’t have faith in our economy. A CNN news paper article stated that the lack of confidence from consumers and companies alike may hamper job growth during the next few months. Holiday’s are the economic boosters of America and with lack of confidence from a large number of consumers, will hurt the economy this year more than ever. Reporters are saying this the national GDP will not be as good as in the past due to many American’s cutting back on their consumption. This brings up the question, what can the government do to help stimulate the economy? Government has done quite a bit to try to get America’s to shop and consume more by lowering stock and making the money market as open as it can be in this economic state, but with the unemployment rate higher than the national unemployment reporters says we should “raise the red flag” as a state of caution being that this could bring the economy to its lowest point. In all the government is needed in job stimulation, if the American people could see jobs opening up there would be more room for improvement. Also this would encourage consumers to buy and send more, putting money back into flow in the economy.

My Two Cents

The war in Afghanistan and Iraq is something that we all question and is something that the nation is greatly concerned about. But not only is it something the “we the people” are concerned about but our national Government and the President see this as a great challenge in there caresses. The most in portent key in making the right chose is to not only make a good decision in pleasing those who have loved ones in the army, but to make a good decision for us as a country. In a since this decision could make or break us, it could take a turn for the good, but yet at the same time it could take a turn for the wore, begin that we lose more soldiers and have our death toll reach an all time high in this eight year war. This was disused very well on a classmates blog by the name of U.S Government, they talked about all the key elements that make this war on terror such a big issues. Covering in good detail the facts about the death toll that could raise or be lowered by sending more troops over to Afghanistan and Iraq. I also like the fact that U.S Government put that thought on many readers minds that by sending more troops over to the war would make us more prone to be a larger target, and that is fact that I feel is greatly over looked. Keeping the troops best interest in this huge decision was not the only concern of U.S Government, they also looked at the situation in an economic way as well, stating the fact that it would cost the U.S more money to send more troops over. I total agree with the blog that was posted on U.S Government’s page, I feel that this is a war that has been drawn out passed it’s time and it is time for the U.S to make a decision based on the greater good of our nation.

Cracking Down on Immigration.

In an editorial in the New York time web site titled “Broken in U.S.A”, and can be found at the link, (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/01/opinion/01thu2.html?ref=opinion) talks about immigration crackdown by the Obama administration. The editorial states that the Obama administration is questioning the warehouse of a very popular clothing line by the name of American Apparel. He conflict is that President Obama want to fire approximately 1,800 workers that are currently employed at the warehouse. As the editorial goes on to say this is not the first time that American Apparel had been in this predicament, the company faced similar conflict with former President Bush’s administration. But this time the feds came with payroll audits rather than guns and dogs. “Now all manner of companies face the very real possibility that the government, using our basic civil powers, is going to come knocking on the door”, comment made by the director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, John Morton as he calls it a fight against immigration. With this said you have to ponder on the question who benefits from this “fight against immigration” as we all know immigrants cannot participate in legalization, as that would be raising the unemployment rate even more, but most of all what is going to be accomplish from this, most immigrant have been work here and doing many of the jobs that most American’s wouldn’t partake in. Also the editorial states that American Apparel isn’t like most company searching for the illegal immigrant, they have a system in place for weeding out the real from the fake. At the end of it all I fell like this is going to be the act of a dog chasing its tail this “fight” will go on for quite some time.

Pressing Through Hard Times.

There is an article that I read on the New York Times web site (www.nytimes.com) This article spoke on Obama’s speech and his attempt to regain the faith of many Americans he once had entering into his presidency. As many Americans know, the momentum from Obama’s very exciting election carried him for the first six months, but as the issues of Americas health care plans seem to fade, many Americans began to question if Obama was a strong enough political leader as he was a political candidate. This speech was presented to members of Congress, with a strong appeal to the many American people that watched on television. President Obama spoke very strongly and passionately on his attempt to change and correct the many problems with our nation’s health care. Obama’s speech also reviles that when his back is to the wall he can rise to the occasion, and he has shown this throughout much of his career. It was shown on November 2007, with his speech at the dinner of Democrats that put him on his road to victory, as well as his speech on racism after racial remarks made by his old pastor Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. This article is one that I encourage readers to give a glance at, showing us that our president is a leader that dose well under pressure, and also reassures us that when hard times arise we have a president we can depend on.
